"This book is a little gem... It will certainly be on hand for my next visit to the land ‘beyond the Cederberg’."

Paperback, 80 pages with black and white sketches and full-colour map

The Agter-Pakhuis area, literally “beyond the Cederberg”, is an area that has always attracted and fascinated us. It has the best rock art in the world and, in a good year, the spring flowers are as good as Namaqualand’s. It’s not as cold as the Cederberg-proper, but has just as many fascinating rocks and caves. The roads are infinitely better, too. We wrote this small book in celebration of the area.

BEYOND THE CEDERBERG by Peter Slingsby and Ed Coombe is a comprehensive guide to the district, its people, its facilities and its attractions for tourists, with a couple of legends and ghost stories thrown in.

“A little book that’s a big work about a small area that’s got big appeal ...” – Getaway

The printed book is out of print.

However, the complete, printable text, plus extra rock art fonts, walks maps and over 300 high resolution photographs is available on CD Rom here.

Many tourist maps available in South Africa are printed and produced overseas.
They are drawn by people who have never stepped on African soil, who would not know Cape Town from Calitzdorp or Nyanga from Knysna.
